How to Add a Watermark to a Photo to Protect Your Work

Want to share your shots or design work publicly but worried someone else will use them without permission? Here's how to add your name or logo as a watermark on your photo.

Image Watermark stamps text or a logo onto your photo, with full control over its position, rotation, and transparency — useful for marking ownership before sharing your work to social media or an online portfolio.

Steps to add a watermark to an image

  1. Open tools.meaecosystem.com/watermark-image.
  2. Upload the photo you want to watermark.
  3. Choose the watermark type: text (say, your name or social media handle), or upload your own logo.
  4. Set its position, rotation, and transparency so it doesn't distract too much from the photo.
  5. Click apply, then download the result.

Effective watermark placement

A watermark placed in just one corner (say, the bottom right) is easier to remove by cropping than one placed in the center or repeated diagonally across a wider area. If your main goal is preventing unauthorized use, consider a placement that covers an important part of the image, not just the edge.

What transparency level works for a photo watermark?

A range of 20–40% transparency is usually enough to still read as a mark without distracting too much from the photo's beauty. If the goal leans more toward strict protection (say, a preview photo before a buyer pays), a lower transparency (more opaque) can be worth considering.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The watermarking process runs directly in your browser.

Can someone else remove the watermark?

Technically, any watermark can potentially be removed with enough effort, especially if it's small and doesn't cover an important area. A watermark works more as an ownership mark and a deterrent against casual use, not as impenetrable protection.

Can I watermark several photos at once?

Right now the process handles one image per run.
