How to Play Gesture Glitch, Geometric Shapes from Hand Movement

Want to try something different from the usual tools? Gesture Glitch detects your finger movement through the camera and displays geometric shapes with a glitch visual effect in real time.

Gesture Glitch is different from the other tools on MEA Tools — it's an interactive visual experiment that uses your device's camera to detect how many fingers you're holding up, then displays a geometric shape with a glitch effect that reacts in real time to your movement.

Steps to play Gesture Glitch

  1. Open tools.meaecosystem.com/gesture-glitch.
  2. Click "Turn On Camera" and allow camera access when your browser asks.
  3. Wait a moment for the hand-detection model to finish loading.
  4. Raise your fingers in front of the camera — a geometric shape appears automatically matching the number of fingers detected, complete with a glitch visual effect.
  5. You can also use both hands at once to display two shapes simultaneously.

Tips for more accurate hand detection

Make sure your room has enough light and your hand is clearly visible in the camera frame. The ideal distance is about 30–80 cm from the camera. If the shape looks flickery or unstable, it's usually due to unstable lighting or a partially hidden finger — try positioning your hand more directly facing the camera.
