Steps to count your text

  1. Open tools.meaecosystem.com/word-counter.
  2. Type directly or paste the text you want to count into the input field.
  3. All statistics — word count, characters with spaces, characters without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and estimated reading time — appear instantly and keep updating as you edit.

Where does the reading-time estimate come from?

The reading-time estimate is based on an average adult's reading speed, usually in the range of 200–250 words per minute. This figure is useful for roughly gauging how long a reader will spend on your article or caption — not an exact measure, but close enough for a general sense.

Characters with spaces vs. without — which should you use?

It depends on the platform. Social media character limits usually count spaces as characters too. But if you're filling out a form with specific rules (say, a limit without spaces), this tool provides both so you don't have to count manually.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text sent to a server?

No. All calculations run directly in your browser as you type.

Can it count text in languages other than Indonesian?

Yes. Word and character counting works based on standard word boundaries and punctuation, so it works for various languages that use spaces as word separators.

Why does my paragraph count look off?

Paragraphs are counted based on blank lines separating blocks of text. If your text has no blank lines between paragraphs, everything will be counted as a single paragraph.
