How to Create a Strong, Hard-to-Guess Password

Passwords like "123456" or your own nickname are still used by plenty of people — and they're the first thing anyone tries when breaking into an account. Here's how to generate a far more secure random password in a few seconds.

A strong password really comes down to two things: length and randomness. It's not about how "creatively" you swap an "a" for an "@" — patterns like that are already easy to guess. The most practical approach is to generate a fully random password, then store it in a password manager so you don't have to memorize it.

Steps to create a password

  1. Open tools.meaecosystem.com/password-generator.
  2. Drag the password length slider. The longer it is, the harder to guess — 16 characters or more is strong enough for most needs.
  3. Check the character types you want to use: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. Enable all of them for the most random result.
  4. If needed, enable the "Avoid similar characters" option so your password doesn't contain easily-confused characters like 0/O or 1/l/I.
  5. A new password appears instantly and can be copied with a single click.

How random is the generated password?

This tool uses the browser's built-in Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues()) to generate random numbers, rather than an ordinary random function whose pattern can be predicted. This is the same standard used for cryptographic needs, so the result is genuinely random — not just "looking" random.

Strong password, but still forget it? That's normal

A random 16–20 character password really is nearly impossible to memorize — and that's fine as long as you use a password manager to store it. The principle: one unique, random password per account, stored in a single secure place, never reused across many sites.

Frequently asked questions

Is the password generated here sent or stored on a server?

No. The password is generated and displayed directly in your browser. No data is sent or stored anywhere.

How long should a password be?

At least 12 characters, ideally 16 or more for important accounts like your primary email or financial services.

Is it okay to reuse the same password across accounts?

Better not to. If one account is breached, every other account using the same password is put at risk too. Generate a new password for each account.
