The opposite of merging, sometimes what you need is actually to split one large PDF into several smaller files — say, you only want to send chapter 3 of a report, or separate each attachment into its own file for easier archiving.
Just like other PDF tools on MEA Tools, this splitting process doesn't need your file uploaded anywhere. All the PDF structure reading and page reassembly into new files is handled directly by your browser.

- Open tools.meaecosystem.com/split-pdf — no sign-up or login needed.
- Choose a single PDF file from your device, or drag it onto the upload area.
- Once the file loads, every page shows up as a sequential thumbnail. Click the plus icon between two pages to add a split point there.
- If you'd rather go quickly, type the page ranges directly — for example
1-3, 4-6, 7to split it into three separate files. - Click the "Split File" button. If the result is just one file, it downloads immediately. If more than one, they're all automatically bundled into a single ZIP file.
When to click thumbnails, when to type a manual range?
Clicking directly between thumbnails is more comfortable when you don't know exactly which page to cut at — you can see each page's content first while deciding the split point. On the other hand, if you already know exactly how the document breaks down (say, from a table of contents that says "Chapter 1: pages 1-12, Chapter 2: pages 13-25"), typing a manual range is far faster since you don't have to click one by one.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF file uploaded to a server?
No. The entire splitting process runs directly in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
Does the split PDF lose quality?
No. Each page's original content is copied as-is, including fonts and images, so the quality is identical to the source file.
How do I set a split point?
Click the plus icon between two pages to add a split point there, or type the page ranges directly, like "1-3, 4-6, 7" to split it into three files.
Why is the downloaded result a ZIP file?
If the split produces more than one file, they're all automatically bundled into a single ZIP file for easier downloading all at once.
